Love Is In The Air: Wedding and Engagement Party Dresses

I think that it is safe to say that it is officially wedding/engagement season, which means many of us will be attending a variety of different events from engagement parties, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and of course actual weddings.
Duh.
Now, this is where some people may become a little annoyed or panicked about the fact that they have to buy so many different ensembles for all of these occasions because you obviously can't repeat an outfit once you have been photographed in it
(it's a legit rule).
So, in an attempt to help those of you who have become painfully aware that everyone around you is getting married, having kids, and subsequently draining your time and bank account, I have complied a list of some of my favorite summer wedding/engagement party dresses to make things a little easier on all of you!
Oh and every single piece is available at my absolute favorite place, Houndstooth Boutique!

Parker Chain Sequin Dress - Bachelorette Party Anyone?!

DVF Liluye Dress - Perfect for an outdoor wedding

Alice + Olivia Mary Blouson Dress - Chic and elegant for an engagement party
Amanda Uprichard Joan Dress - this flirty little frock will catch every cute groomsmen's eye!
San & Soni Edgewater Dress - For a laid back wedding

Joie Elaine Dress - A breezy bridal shower dress
Gypsy 05 Organic Maxi Dress in Lipstick - This dress could work for all of the above!

Ok, so those are only a few of my personal favorites so make sure you pick a dress that best fits the feel and location of the event you are attending!

Happy Hour: Limoncello and Prosecco Cooler

Whoo Hoo! It's Memorial Day weekend!
This holiday pretty much signifies the start of summer and what better way to kick off the summer than with a refreshing cocktail?!
The recipe I have for you today is from creative-culinary.com and is an easy drink for when you are craving something cool and crisp.
All you need is...
4 oz. of cold Prosecco (sparkling wine)
2 oz. of Limoncello liqueur chilled (can be kept in the freezer)
Mint sprigs
Frozen raspberries
Chill the glasses you intend to serve the coolers in for at least 20 prior serving. Once the glasses are chilled, muddle a sprig of mint at the bottom of each glass, add the Limoncello, Prosecco, and finally add the frozen raspberries!

There you have it! A perfect little cocktail to kick off the summer!
I hope everyone has a fantastic and safe weekend.

Summer Must Have: Sassy Sunnies

Summer is upon us ladies!!!
That means you have to start assembling all of your summer esstionals to get you through the sunny months ahead.
My number one essential, other than sunscreen, is a great pair (or two) of fabulous sun glasses.
You need to protect you skin and eyes from the sun's harmful rays!!!
I think it is important every summer to invest in one nice pair of sunglasses and at least one cheap pair for days when you are at the beach, pool, etc.
Here are some of my personal favorites for your "investment" pair this summer...
Valentino Studded Sunglasses- Comes in black, brown, and havanna as well!
Mosley Tribes TANA- Gold tone metal with green mirrored lenses
Stella McCartney Oversized Cat's-Eye Sunglasses in Havana
And here are some cheap but chic styles to choose from!

Fred Flare Phoenix Sunglasses $14
Topshop Portobello Oversized Sunglasses  $28
Forever 21 Cat Eye Sunglasses  $5.80

Now, go out and find your favorite styles for this summer and rock them for Memorial Day weekend!
I will leave you with a silly little quote from one of my favorite people, Karl Lagerfeld...
"Sunglasses are like eyeshadow. They make everything look younger and prettier."

Current Obsession: MiH Jeans

O.M.G.
I have found a new love in MiH Jeans people and it's getting pretty serious.

MiH Jeans is a London based denim company and the regeneration of Made in Heaven, a brand that was started by the Godfather of current Founder and Creative Director, Chloe Lonsdale.
Chloe was basically born with blue jeans in her blood. Her father started the famous Jean Machine stores and was known as "The Blue Jean King," while her mother was a denim model throughout the 70's.

MiH Jeans has a celebrity filled client base that started with the likes of Jane Birkin and Farah Fawcett to Kate Bosworth and Jessica Biel today.

The main focus of MiH Jeans is to provide  the best fit possible and the highest quality denim available.
Here are some of my favorite styles and washes, all of which I have!

This is true testimony bitches!
The Marrakesh in Kara Navy

What I love most about this style is the combination of the high  rise with the kick flare that instantly slims any body type.
This particular style comes in 22 different washes including...
Marrakesh in Greyson
Same style but the Greyson wash creates a very different look!
Moving on to...
The Oslo in Baez
This is a mid-rise slim leg jean that has the BEST FIT EVER! I could truly wear this style every single day.
The Oslo comes in 11 different colors and I would recommend getting them all!

Finally, I am head over heels for the Miramar in Chambray
This wide leg jean is perfect for the spring and summer months! Throw on your favorite white tank, a skinny belt, some great wedges and you are set.

Alright, so now that we all know about how amazing MiH Jeans are, GO GET SOME!
They can be found on websites like Net-A-Porter, ShopBop, and Barneys.com but if you want to try them on to find the best fit for you (which I highly recommend) head over to Houndstooth Boutique in Eden Prairie or Savage!

The perfect pair of jeans is hard to find, MiH Jeans make it easier.
Have a fab weekend everyone!

Dying For Dior

I would like to thank Style.com for bringing this exquisite video to my attention!
The latest project from Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin has some of the world's most fabulous models parading around the Palace of Versailles in Dior.

Honestly, the mere thought of it is so chic I could die.

Now, for those of you who don't know what Versailles is...
(shame on you and go watch Marie Antoinette immediately)
Versailles is where the French Royal Family, including the infamously fabulous Marie Antoinette, resided until the French Revolution forced them out in 1789. The Palace of Versailles is best known for its extreme luxury and grandeur, which is still breathtaking to this day.

Have a look for yourself!
Fun Fact: Chanel will be holding its Resort showing at Versailles next month. C'est fantastique!

Happy Monday!

Happy Hour: Springtime In Paris

There is honestly nothing better than springtime in Paris but I have to say this little cocktail is a close second!
This is served as a martini so before you attempt to make this drink make sure you have a martini shaker or something that you feel confident shaking a lot of booze around in.

All you need to make a Springtime In Paris is...
2 oz. Grey Goose Vodka (if you are feeling fancy)
1 oz. Chambord
1 oz. Cointreau
1 oz. Pineapple juice
Raspberries to garnish
So Cute right?!
Add the first four ingredients over ice into your shaker and shake well.
Pour into your favorite martini glass and garnish with raspberries (freeze the raspberries to help keep your drink nice and cold).

Voilà! You are enjoying springtime in Paris!

Have a fab friday divas!

Thought of The Day

Hello Everyone!
I would like to start by apologizing for neglecting this blog recently. It has been a bit of a weird transition coming back home to Minneapolis after my stint in Norway.
That being said, I'm BACK and ready to blog my little heart out!

Ok, so this is kind of how I am feeling today...

Let me explain!
I had the most bizarre interaction with this elderly woman yesterday that ended with me running out of a mall in tears.
So dramatic, I know.
Basically, after asking me a few questions about myself she proceeded to judge the sh*t out of me for the unusual lifestyle I have chosen.
(What? Randomly up and moving to Norway isn't the norm? My bad!)
Personally, I think it is totally insane for a complete stranger to go and form any kind of opinion of someone they have known for less than 5 minutes.
Like saying I am never going to have any type of career? I'm sorry...do I know you?
Whatevs.

So here is my thought of the day...
Don't be so quick to judge people before you know their story. Just because the life they live or the choices they make are not the same as yours does not make them any better OR worse than yours.
Keep your mind and heart open always

Who Are You Ruthie Davis?!

Ummmmmmmmmm do YOU know who Ruthie Davis is?!
Yeah, neither did I until my darling friend Allison from Curio Design Studio sent me a link to an amazing pair of pink pumps that honestly took my breath away.
Ruthie Davis is a bad ass New York based designer and brand who is responsible for some of the most striking shoes I have ever laid eyes on.
With sky high heels, rhinestones, and spikes (my 3 favorite things) Ruthie Davis shoes are not for the weak of heart!
Check out some of her fab designs from her latest collection...
Jewel
Cake
Lounge
Ruthie Davis heels has become popular among celebs such as Beyonce and Lady Gaga but her fierce handbags and sneakers should not go unnoticed...
Mini Dr. Spike(I absolutely cannot live without this)
Jay

While all of these Ruthie Davis creations do not come cheap, it is still fun to look at and gather inspiration from.
Begging for more? Of course you are.

You're welcome!

Just Another Reason To Love Chanel

As if you need any more reasons to love all things Chanel!
This amazing video shows exactly how Chanel's signature tweed and chain lined jackets are made.
I think it is incredible how nearly everything is done by hand and it takes a team of seamtresses to create the finished product.
A Chanel Jacket can cost you over $4,000 but after seeing the intricate process of making this classic little jacket is made, it is a little bit easier to justify such a purchase...right?!
Ahhh come on! It's an investment piece people!

Check out the fabulous!

I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Coco Chanel...
"Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman."

Spring Trend Alert: High/Low Hemlines

Hello divas! Hope you all had a fabulous St. Patrick's Day weekend!

Now lets talk trend...
This spring is full of exciting new trends but today I want to share with you my absolute favorite...
High/Low Hemlines!
You can see this trend in flirty maxi dresses, flowy skirts, and sassy tops everywhere.
Take a look at a few of my personal favorites!
Aimee Tank by Brandy Melville
Lanston High/Low Maxi Dress (I have this and its my total obsession!)
Minkpink Nimbin Belted High Low Skirt from ASOS
Elizabeth and James Floral Marissa Dress
I adore the flouncy, sexiness that the high/low hemline adds to a garment and the way it makes a dress or skirt move.
This is an easy and wearable trend that anyone can sport this spring.
Don't be shy ladies, get out there and show a little skin!

St. Patrick's Day Cocktails!

Whoo Hoo! St. Patrick's Day is this Saturday and I'm sure most of you are starting to gear up for a full weekend of debauchery by pulling out every piece of green clothing you own and loading up on Guinness.
While beer is probably the most consumed beverage on St. Patrick's Day, it is important to think about those who aren't particularly fond of beer, so I found some alternative cocktails!

The first is the Bushmills Irish Buck, a.k.a The Frozen Leprechaun, and it's super easy!
All you need is...
1.5 oz (a shot) of Bushmills Irish Whiskey
.25 oz Fresh lime juice
2 oz Ginger Ale
1 Lime wedge to garnish
Mix all of the ingredients together and sip away!

The second cocktail is actually a punch that is perfect if you are having a St. Patty's Day party
St. Patrick's Day Party Punch
All you need is...
2 Cans Minute Maid frozen limeade concentrate
2 Cans Minute Maid frozen lemonade concentrate
2 Liters of Diet Sierra Mist
1 Liter of rum
2 quarts lime sherbet

Add all of the ingredients to a large punch bowl and stir until everything is mixed thoroughly.
Serve to your guests and enjoy!

I hope everyone has a fabulous St. Patrick's Day and gives these cocktails a try!
I will leave you with a little Irish quote...
"St. Patrick's Day is an enchanted time - a day to begin transforming winter's dreams into summer's magic"- Adrienne Cook

The Naked Dress

Ok so any female between the ages of 18 and 55 should know what I am referring to when I talk about
"The Naked Dress"

For those of you who live under a rock and/or have never seen Sex and The City its the dress that Carrie Bradshaw is photographed in for a promotion for her column that was put on the side of New York City buses. It is more importantly the dress she wears on her first date with Mr. Big, which leads to them doing the dirty for the first time as well.
Ok, we are all caught up now.

Now, nude has been all the rage for the past few seasons and has been seen on celebs on every red carpet this award season...
Heidi Klum at the 2012 Golden Globes
Kristen Wiig at the 2012 Oscars
It's undeniable how hot the "naked" look is, so I wanted to post some modern, wearable "naked dresses" for all of you to rock this spring!
Here ya go!
Rory Beca
Rachel Pally
Haute Hippie One Shoulder Dress

What I think is great about a naked dress is that you can get creative with a colorful shoe or a bold statement necklace. Anything goes when you have a blank canvas!

So find your inner exhibitionist this spring and slip into your pseudo-birthday suit!
